Meet the People Behind the Program
“I see my role as keeping the district on the right side of the tipping point theory. If litter and garbage become too prevalent, we reach a point where it becomes so bad that it’s irreversible. The cleaner we keep it, and the more people see others making the effort, the more inclined they’ll be to not litter and to help keep the area clean as well.
I hope when people see me out picking up trash, they think, ‘Hey, I can do that too and help the community.’”
— Mike Kendig, Hollywood Booster
“As a longtime Northeast Portland resident and community volunteer, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact the Hollywood Clean + Safe Program has had on the district. The program plays an important role in helping keep Hollywood clean, safe, and welcoming.”
