Celebrating 100 Years of the Hollywood Theatre

This year marks an extraordinary milestone for one of the Hollywood District’s most beloved landmarks—the Hollywood Theatre is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

For a century, the Theatre has welcomed generations of moviegoers, helped define the character of our neighborhood, and become one of Portland’s most recognizable cultural destinations. Today, travelers passing through Portland International Airport are even greeted by a miniature Hollywood Theatre as they walk through the terminals.

When the Theatre was first constructed, it made such an impression on the surrounding community that our neighborhood was renamed Hollywood in its honor. The Theatre was a landmark then, and it remains one today—especially as the district looks forward to its next chapter with the upcoming entertainment district. We’re proud to celebrate this incredible milestone alongside the Hollywood Theatre and everyone who has helped make its first century possible.

To commemorate the occasion, the Hollywood Theatre is hosting a week of special events, screenings, and community celebrations that honor its rich history while looking ahead to its next century. Through July 20, businesses can receive $500 off a Business Benefactor Membership when signing up or renewing.
